MADRID PROCESOS 10

CALL FOR ARTISTS PROJECTS

AVAM (Associated Visual Artists of Madrid) with the sponsorship of the Madrid Regional Government, invites proposals for a competition to select four artistic projects for inclusion in Madrid Procesos 10. This open call is an initiative promoted by AVAM and backed by the Madrid Regional Government and aimed at improving the conditions experienced by plastic and visual artists when they are producing and creating work.

The objectives of Madrid Procesos 10 are:

 - To offer the artists collective a platform for the support of coordination and the financing of artist's productions.

 - To further experimentation and the production process.

 - To analyse and draw attention to different models of contemporary artistic production, highlighting the factors which determine its development.

 - To respect the rights of the profession and those of the author.

 - To help Madrid's artists create and disseminate their work, thereby promoting active international cooperation.

To this end, the Madrid Procesos competition has been initiated with the following lines of action:

  - A programme of support for the coordination and assessment of the production of artistic projects.

  - A mobility programme: aid for artistic production and its international dissemination in collaboration with the Karl Hofer Society of Berlin.

  - A dissemination programme: drawing attention to research, using resources and implementing the projects selected for Madrid Procesos through their dissemination in the media and publishing a digital catalogue.

GUIDELINES:

The aim of this competition is to select four artistic projects to be undertaken during Madrid Procesos 10 in the following manner:

a) Two artistic projects will be produced principally with existing resources in the Madrid Region during a period of approximately five months (June-October 2010).

b) Two artistic projects will be produced in Berlin during an exact period of two months (August 15 - October 15  2010).

3. Double applications

Those artists who comply with the requisites of both categories may make a double application. To do so, they should send different dossiers of the project (one for each category) and a single creator's dossier together with an application form, including all the documentation detailed in points 1.6 and 2.7. This documentation should be submitted in foolscap or A4, bound separately and occupying a maximum of 30 sheets in total.

In all cases, applicants may only receive one grant.

4. Commission for the selection of projects:

With the goal of guaranteeing transparency in all phases of the project, AVAM will designate an external commission that will be in charge of selecting the projects to be developed during Madrid Procesos 09.

The selection committee (designated by AVAM) will be composed of three recognized experts in the fields of the plastic and visual arts, plus the presence one member of the technical team of AVAM who will have voice but no vote, and act as secretary.

The committee's decision will be unappealable. It will be made public at the end of May 2009. Each candidate will be notified personally and the results will be published on the AVAM website.

5. Interpretation and acceptance of the conditions:

Any doubt that may arise about the interpretation of the requirements will be resolved by AVAM.

Participation in this competition presupposes full acceptance of the norms that govern it. Non-fulfillment of any of the obligations established in the guidelines or in the awarding of the grant will result in the immediate suspension of the same, independently of the responsibilities that it may produce.
